How to Care for Your Sir Walter DNA Certified Buffalo Lawn

INSTRUCTIONS
General Lawn Care Regime
Keeping your lawn looking its best comes down to four key practices:
- Mow Regularly – Maintain a consistent height by mowing routinely during the growing season and less frequently in cooler months.
- Water Deeply, Not Frequently – Water thoroughly to encourage deep root growth, adjusting frequency based on weather and turf type.
- Feed Seasonally – Apply a quality fertiliser 3–4 times a year to support healthy growth, colour, and resilience.
- Monitor for Weeds & Pests – Keep an eye out for signs of stress or infestation, and act early with appropriate treatments.
MOWING
- Mow every 7–14 days during the growing season (September to May) to maintain a healthy, dense lawn.
- Reduce mowing frequency to every 2–5 weeks in winter, as growth naturally slows.
- Aim to keep the leaf height between 30–50mm to support shade tolerance and suppress weeds.
- Always use a sharp mower blade and avoid removing more than one-third of the leaf height at a time to prevent stress.
WATERING
- Water deeply but infrequently to encourage a strong, deep root system that improves drought tolerance.
- In warmer months, water once or twice a week, depending on rainfall and soil type — early morning is best to reduce evaporation.
- Sir Walter can survive on minimal water, but will perform best with consistent moisture during extended dry periods.
- Monitor for signs of stress, such as wilting or dry, curling leaves, and adjust watering accordingly.
