Special Blend is a sandy loam sourced from the Lockyer Valley processed through a 6mm screen, making it one of the finest soil-based top dressings on the market. The loam is blended with a high-quality compost, adding carbon and natural nutrients into the soil. It can be used as rich soil for under and over turf or as a fine 6mm screened garden soil. How to Use Special Blend Top Dressing
INSTRUCTIONS
Mow your lawn a bit lower than normal with a catcher the day before application to enhance the effectiveness of the nutrients. First, distribute the top dressing evenly across the lawn. Use a rake or a specialised top dressing tool to spread the soil evenly to a depth of 10mm. Then, water the lawn thoroughly after application. Thicker applications may be suitable for establised lawns with fast and strong recovery habits. Seek expert advice.
For the first week, it is recommended to water the lawn daily or until the grass leaves are well established and growing keeping the soil wet. Special Blend incorporates a host of natural nutrients found in loam soil and compost, however we recommend the application of a quality granular fertiliser up to 3-weeks prior to top dressing, and ongoing applications of liquid fertiliser to encourage fast recovery.
WHERE TO USE
Use Special Blend Top Dressing for lawn top dressing over natural or rotary mowed lawns. Spread the top dressing to a depth of approximately 10mm, ensuring the lawn shoots remain visible. Avoid burying the grass, as it can lead to lack of sunlight and harm the lawn.
If top dressing a low-mowed or cylinder mown lawn, we recommend the use of Fairway Pro-MAXX.
WATERING
A thorough watering is required after spreading to activate the nutrients.
For the first week, it is recommended to water the lawn daily or until the grass leaves are well established and growing keeping that sand wet. Watering early morning is recommended to maximise application and reduce evaporation and wind overspray.
FERTILISING
Special Blend incorporates a host of natural nutrients found in loam soil and compost, however we recommend the application of a quality granular fertiliser up to 3-weeks prior to top dressing, and ongoing applications of liquid fertiliser to encourage fast recovery.
Bio-stimulants such as Dyna-Maxx will aid in speedy and strong recovery.

Most commercially available soils and potting mix blends are comprised of a combination of loam soil and poorly composted green-waste supplied by the recycling industry. In the composting process, liquids are added. Though highly regulated, the quality of the finished product can be highly variable and inconsistent compromising the finished product.
Thorough watering is required after planting to activate the microbes and nutrients incorporated in UltraGrow Blends. These essential nutrients last up to 16-months, while the bio inoculants make this a living medium, resulting in healthy plant growth for many years. A balanced fertiliser has been added at the time of manufacture, but specialist fertiliser may be required for optimal growth in some applications.
